I was reading a sailing blog the other day and dropped a note to the guy that writes it. fillingthesails.com is the blog. Mike has been learning to sail and working on his boat up in Dallas for a while now. I've enjoyed his blog. He had a post on repairing his hatch boards and I commented on how I'd replaced ours with leftovers from the window replacement job. He asked to see them so...
The Sunbrella door curtain attaches to the lip of the hatch with some snaps. It is weighted on the bottom and sides with what feels like lead fishing weights. It is quilted and does a great job of keeping the cool in when we are running the air conditioning. It was in the 90s out yesterday and we had it in the mid 70s inside while we were hanging out at the dock. I cut the acrylic to fit a one full piece for the door, then added a couple of angled cuts to make three boards that wouldn't let water in the cracks. I think I could have just gone with two and it would have been fine.
